Diagnostic Log File

Postby kiint » Sun Nov 17, 2013 6:07 pm

Does anyone know how to turn off logging (if possible)?

If you leave Gruss running for any length of time, this can get huge. I've been running BA for about 18 hours and I have a log that got to 4.8GB. Lots and lots of refreshing prices messages.
I think that allowing the file to get so big causes system issues and unless you are trying to trace a problem then this isn't needed.

So, anyone know if I can turn it off?

Maybe you mean Bet Log Results when start connection? Just uncheck it...

Nope, the only options I have checked are "Display Betting Options" and "Display Bets Manager"

Just to add...

I'm using the COM feature and I have a feeling that this is to do with COM.
Is it possible that the Option setting is bypassed when this is used?

Probably be quicker to PM them as I can't imagine they read every post on here. Whats the name of the file that keeps growing?

I may have to.

File name is: BA_Diagnostic_yymmdd.txt where yymmdd is the date.
Located in the Diagnostic Logs folder in the settings folder.

Personally I hope that they do read every post on here but they do seem to have gone very quiet recently.

Sorry for late reply. The disabling of the diagnostic log is not working. If we can solve your COM issue posted here http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?p=42644 then we can stop it clogging your log file.

Thanks Gary.
The majority of the log messages are general activity such as waiting for refresh. The exception messages are a small part of it.

I'll see if I can do something to limit the size to a user configurable amount.

Thankds Gary.

If you can do that that'd be great.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
