Excel triggered betting - betting refresh rates - help plz

Postby Coolhand22 » Sat Nov 23, 2013 5:35 am

I've noticed that BA checks your betting inputs from excel at the same rate that it refreshes it's market information from betfair.

For example, if I set the betfair refresh rate at 10 seconds, and then set off a triggered bet just after it refreshes; then I have to wait 10 seconds before BA sees the trigger in excel, and sends the bet to the betfair API.

Is there a way to have BA check excel or read excel for triggered bets instantaneously, regardless of how fast it checks market information from betfair?

Can we de-couple these two things?

Thanks,
Will

I'm pretty sure (although might be wrong, it's not unknown!) that BA used to work in this way.

From what I can remember, before requests were shared among multiple tabs monitoring the same market, I used to have one tab set to the minimum refresh rate, and the others set to a much higher figure. I would populate the trigger column from the data in the fastest refreshing sheet, to save on data requests. (hope that makes sense)

I suppose though only Gary or Mark can confirm if that was previously the case, and provide the reason as to why it is now dealt with differently.

It still works this way for me.

BA seems to be pulling the information from excel at intervals depending on the refresh rate.

How can you make excel push your triggered bet directly into BA near instantaneously?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
