Is it possible to do a bet for a "PLACE" using excel? If so how. Thanks.

My last post was not that clear so to clarify ...

Can you place a "win" bet and a "place" be on the same horse in the same race? I assume you can, but how would you do it?
... Thanks.

Hi,

You need to link the Win and Place markets to separate sheets like in the following video:-

http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/videos/win_place.html

You would need to cross-reference the sheets by horse name and then for example could set a trigger on the Place market to fire in a bet when a corresponding bet is triggered on the Win market.

Regards,
Mark

Very quick question on this: if it's all set up as per the video and auto market select is activated I assume both pages on Gruss are swapped to the next race right? Or is there a way I need to synchronise them?

Also as a very (very!) basic Trigger to add an additional bet in the Place market if the odds are high does this make sense?

Code: Select all
=IF(A5="","",IF(AND(Win!F5>=40,Win!Q5="BACK-IP"),"BACK-IP",""))

Should simply be a case of:

If the runner's current Back odds (cell F5 in the Win worksheet) are 40.00 or higher AND if the Win worksheet's Trigger is "BACK-IP" then fire a bet into the Place market with the odds and stake in the columns next to the Trigger column.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
