New user - daft questions perhaps?

Postby Golfman » Wed Jun 04, 2014 5:34 am

Hi all,

Just found this programme by accident and it looks ideal for what I want. I am pretty adept at excel (not so much VBA) but I have some 'newbie questions'.

1. How do you setup the link between an excel spreadsheet and the Betting Assistant and get it working?
2. Is there a way of obtaining data from Betfair and simulating bets, i.e. a Training/Learning mode (I know there is a risk of charges)?
3. Does this programme work with the new Betfair API-NG?

Thank you in advance for any help, always gratefully appreciated.

Hi all,

First question was 'daft' as there is an excellent demo video showing the excel link up which I have just found.

Gruss has never had a "training mode" to my knowledge.

Training mode

Postby Fixador » Fri Jun 06, 2014 9:55 pm

Training mode ? why bother when you can fire in bets via vba at 1p a time, or just simulate - and not enter bet type / stake / odds requested - just record what the market could offer at the time you were planning to fire the bet in.

However - just recording odds is not something to extend for several months for every race as BF will close your account

Thanks Fixador,

I guess I'll have to search the forum for the vba to fire in 1p bets!
Probably in the excel samples, haven't looked yet.

I have more questions, will post a new thread

Correct. Best training is the actual thing but with only a small amount.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
