Race times

Postby Reged » Thu Sep 25, 2014 1:46 pm

Hi

I have been using BA for some time now (on XP, soz!) but when I recently installed it on another computer it was showing race times 8 hours behind the real time and I can't figure out why. I've checked the time in the BIOS, reinstalled the app to no avail. Any clues as to a possible fix? Thanks.

Have you checked your timezone on the actual Betfair site is correct?

Well, now you ask, I have logged into the Betfair site on that machine and, while the time appears to be correct there, the earliest race it is showing me in today's racecard is the 7.45 Kempton. Everything's fine on my other machine.

... although in the Horse Racing section, if I open the GB races, it does give me all remaining races at the correct times. Most strange.

Did you check the timezone on your betfair account? It's in the account settings under the address. Basically Gruss takes your PC's time settings for the program but the API is based on your timezone set on the betfair account. You need them to match for everything to show correctly. What timezone are you in?

Have you tried changing the timezone on the PC and restarting the program ,(or open another instance of it) to see if they change in line

Okay, I'll have to look into that later as the machine is running with stuff at the mnoment. I'll report back later, maybe tomorrow, but thanks in any case for your assistance. :)

You are indeed an extremely sensible captain. I found Windows was set to Pacific time, which is logical if you think about the 8-hout gap. Now sorted. Many thanks to you/

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
