Excel auto bet placement

Postby wizardofmann » Sun Nov 02, 2014 8:38 pm

Hi all

I have been developing/testing a bot since April of this year with the help of Neil (Neil, you have the patience of Jobe!) It is going really well apart from one major issue and that is, only just over 22% of auto bets placed get matched! I have racked my brain (What's left of it!) and still cannot figure out why, when at the same time an auto bet is placed I fire in manual bets as well and almost 90% get matched!

The above problem is driving me insane, as I cannot find a logical explanation. Has anyone else run into the problem or any ideas how I may be able to resolve my conundrum?

Are there any errors? I used to get a regular problem with bets showing "BetLimitExceeded" in the BA application and also in the Excel sheet which I managed to figure out was due to the refresh rate in Excel being set lower than the refresh rate in BA. As soon as I matched them it sorted out.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

Errors where? Sorry but not sure where to look apart from Excel error log but even if there are, I wouldn't know what I'm looking for

I do not get 'BetLimitExceeded' but I have been looking at refresh rates which do seem out of time with the the refresh rate I have set on the Gruss API (Both set at the same refresh of course) I have noticed an inconsistency between the two but put it down to the poor internet connection (Which apart from getting a private server, which as a poor pensioner is out of my reach) I have to endure. I have spent countless hours comparing my monitoring times with the log entries and have found anything from half a second to around the four second mark difference!

T column in excel represents "BET REF", this cells need to be empty before placing new bet. You clear them with typing: "CLEAR" in TRIGGER cell - Q column.

Hi hahaha

Finally got round to looking at the info you gave me and not sure exactly what you mean? I am very inexperienced in Excel but but looking at column T and Q, is that not the same as or similar to the fill or kill setting on the Gruss interface?

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
