Premium Charge 2 Churning, Avoidance or Evasion?

Postby thestar » Sun Jan 11, 2015 8:29 pm

Hi,

Ive been paying the original PC for a while now and am right on the edge of being dragged into 'Higher Rate PC'
The subject of churning has been mentioned a number of times, but could somebody please clarify how betfair deem the action in reality?

Since PC2 how do they interpret betting in several markets not for profit but to simply pay commission and therefore move into a lower PC rate?

From the early days of PC it could have been argued that they might have been ok with it on the basis that you paid whether commission or PC and generated liquidity in their markets by attempting it.
Now its slightly different since they could potentially interpret it as paying the lesser of two amounts by placing bets not intended to win anything.

Im dubious whether to find out by trying since I was warned a couple of years ago that any further attempt to avoid PC would result in closing of my account.
Could somebody therefore give any advice about doing it in practice?
Thanks.

As far as I'm aware betfair will not try and stop you doing it. It's something I've attempted and I've never been warned or cautioned.

The much bigger issue you are likely to encounter is that it's difficult to find 'churn' opportunities, particularly those with significant liquidity. I've all but given up nowadays because I was spending far too much time trying to churn rather than developing new winning strategies.

as far as i am aware they are not to worried about churning , or betting to generate more commission.
you could always call the PC team to clarify what you want to do or will try to do .
i was told by them a few months ago that generating more commission to lower pc payments and the percentage bracket is fine .

give them a call

Thanks for confirming that. I though about it but can't really find something that proves i. That clarifies my confusion.

if you are paying pc , phone betfair , ask to speak to the pc team .
discuss what it is you want to do and if they have a problem with it .
best to be sure than create problems , but i was told that generating is ok . placing more bets is fine .
passing money from one account to another to "avoid" is not ok .

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
