Problems with PlaceBet and Betplaced Event

Postby merbals » Tue Mar 31, 2015 8:17 pm

Hi Guys,

First post on here so be gentle.

I have been writing some semi automation now for over 6 months it is very involved but it is there now and all works except I am having a strange problem with the PlaceBet and BetPlaced events.

Basically what is happening is I am getting up to 4 seconds of delay (Horse racing) from when I execute the PlaceBet command to when I get the BetPlaced event back. I am logging this with time stamps when I place the bet and log the prices and amount available and then log with the reference and status of the Betplaced event but I am getting 3-4 seconds in between and can't figure out why. It is driving me mad I now that my bet is not being placed until after the delay because I can see the price movement going either side of my bet after the 1 sec inplay delay.

It is very confusing and don't want to give up and just use excel as this is the only thing I am struggling with.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you placing bets under the minimum £2? It takes longer to place sub £2 bets because it need to complete 3 steps to get round the £2 limitation , each one of those is subject to the inplay delay so any bets would take at least 3 seconds plus whatever latency/time it takes betfair to process each one too.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
