Backing £1000 at Betfair UK BSP

Postby StuT » Mon Jun 06, 2016 12:25 pm

Hi all,

I wonder if someone can help settle a debate.

My friend and I were having a debate of whether a £1000 Back at UK Betfair BSP on a 2/1 favourite would have a direct affect on the Betfair BSP starting price.
I don't believe it would affect the starting price with the amount of money that is traded on UK race, he thinks it would.

Does anyone think that such a bet on the favourite would affect the BSP price?

Thanks a lot.

Specify the "direct affect" , how much is it?
If you don't there is nothing to be said

Direct affect meaning would my stake of £1000 be enough to alter the bsp odds when it's calculated at the off.

All SP bets will have some effect on the final returned BSP, how much of an effect depends on plenty of variables, some you can predict some you can't. £1000 on a group 1 race won't have any effect whereas £1000 on a seller at some crappy night meeting may do.

is there any way of working out, even loosely, what the effect of 1000 might be. I was thinking a look at the amounts available at the time of placing the bet might be a kind of indicator. But then again that might be a route to the poor house :( - Paul

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
