Betfair Trader

seems when I launch Betfair Trader I now get Betting Assistant. Can we still use Betfair Trader? I prefer this version as I have some programs I have no idea how to update running off the back of it.

Betfair Assistant ver 0.99q

Postby Alexandru » Wed Dec 06, 2006 3:05 pm

Hi Gary,

is it a lot of work to modify Betfair Assistant, so that it can run with the new website design?
I am used to BA and would be very thankful to you if you could do the necessary changes.

Much appreciated,

Alexandru

Are you referring to the missing silks? This should be the only problem caused by the new website design as the rest of the program uses the API.

It would be good if you could amend the old non-api scraping version as I used to use that for the place betting and a few others rather than the API one . It seems they've only changed the urls a little and not the main page content.

http://www.betfair.com/betting/LoadMarketDataAction.do?mi=

has now changed to either

http://uk.site.sports.betfair.com/betti ... tion.do?mi

http://au.site.sports.betfair.com/betti ... ion.do?mi=

and

http://www.betfair.com/betting/BetsManipulationAction.do?

to

http://uk.site.sports.betfair.com/betti ... nAction.do

and
http://au.site.sports.betfair.com/betti ... nAction.do

etc.....

main menu site now coming from

http://site.sports.betfair.com/

Sorry, I was talking about Betfair Assistant ver 0.99q (the last non-api one). Can you please do the minor changes (as Captain suggested)? Yesterday I was trading soccer and the only thing I did not like in api version is that FIRST the price appears in the market and shortly after appeares on my screen. If I place a stupid price and quickly want to cancel it, I can't. The price has to be in the market for a very short time (but still can easily be taken by a quick bot), and after I am able to do somthing with it (modify or cancel).

I was lucky yesterday to place a stupid bet and cancel it, but it won't last for a long time.
I didn't notice such a problem with non-api version and I was very happy.

As for speed, I guess both programs are the same, did not notice any differences (however in api version you also get the last price matched which is very cool).

In 80% I use non-api and in 20% I use api (especially aus games). Gary, if it is not too much trouble, please modify non-api version.

Much appreciated!

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
