Issues with current version 1.3.0.40

I have BA installed on a laptop and desktop, both have updated and both are refusing to run.
When launched and the 'login page' appears a popup happens that says something like 'failed to load form 0', if the ok button is clicked it returns to the login page but rather than display the login webpage it just says something about unable to contact the proxy.
However I have no system proxy configured. The desktop is windows 10 x64 with oct update and all updates, the laptop is a windows 10 x86 waiting to update with latest feature update.
I have tried updating .dot to 4.7.2 (latest) and that hasnt helped. I also tried an uninstall and reinstall by manually downloading from your website.

I now have no way of using Betting Assistant on either machine.

HI,

If you go into Internet Options and then into LAN settings under the Connections tab, you are definitely not using a proxy server?

The proxy is turned off, I have used a proxy in the past for something so there are values in the manual proxy setting address and port boxes, but the proxy is definitely off. Using chrome and Edge against whatsmyip.org return my public IP address (as does Internet Explorer although I guess you no longer use the ie plugin). I have entered a proxy address in bet assistant before as well but it never seem to stick and now there is no option for that. Would have thought though that a complete deinstall reinstall would have fixed this but it didnt.

Just incase the control you are using is buggy and ignored that the proxy was turned off and just used the entries stored for the address, Ive also removed the entries in the address and port boxes and tried again. Same issue, get a popup about failure to load form 0 and then a message about not being able to contact the proxy.

Ok this is really weird. Turned on the proxy and started Gruss, worked as normal, presented the login box and let me log in, look at markets and get prices. Quit Gruss, turned off the proxy. Launched Gruss again and it's back to displaying the failure to load form 0.

In the last test, when I turned off the proxy setting in the windows proxy settings dialog, I also stopped the proxy service running out on the internet.
Just repeated the same test but left the remote proxy service running. Now when the windows proxy settings say the proxy is off, Gruss can log in. Quit Gruss, stop the remote proxy service and try Gruss again, fails to load the form. So it looks like Gruss is somehow ignoring the current windows proxy settings and using some secretly stored value somewhere, and these settings survive a re-install.

Hi,

There is a settings file that doesn't get deleted as part of re-install.

Go to Windows Start Menu and type Run in the search box.

In the Run window type the following:-

%AppData%/Gruss software/Betting Assistant

Press OK and File Explorer should open, delete the file named user.config

When you open Betting Assistant it will create a new settings file and be back to factory settings.
