**** Trigger Betting while at work using Excel ********

Postby PG40 » Tue Jan 02, 2007 7:05 am

Hello all & happy New Year .... Can I use Gruss Software & Excell to place
bets for me while I am at work or out?

All I would do is put my selections in each morning & the odds range I
would be willing to take. Each bet will be placed using 5% off my bank prior
to each race.

Can this be done?
I can log the prices to excel but thats about it.

Just what to say to the owner of Gruss Software that you have done a fantastic job &
keep up the good work.

Thanks

I shoud add that I would laying horses so the 5% of bank would be
the liability for each bet not the stake

There's a post here

http://gruss-software.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=173

that's doing more or less the same thing but the problem is that the balance isn't sent to excel so you'd have to find some other way of getting the balance to the sheet.

I have seen quite a few requests for the balance to be sent to Excel. I will shortly be adding this feature.

Horribly aware that this is probably very elementary, reading all your knowledgeable posts. How do you link the program with XL? Does it work with XL2000?

Thanks in advance, I know someone will take pity on me!

Hi all. Is that "balance" planned to be the "account balance" or a "single bet balance"?

Fantastic news, truly !!!! :D :D

It should work with 2000, the only problems I've had were with 97.
Have Excel open, then from BA select "log current prices" from the Excel menu and just watch what it does in Excel.

If you do a search for "triggers" on here you should find enough previous posts to explain the basics.

Many thanks GARY !!
For me the only thing missing in this brilliant piece of software was the account balance being accessible in the spreadsheets, ever since I stumbled upon this website about a month ago I have been trying to figure out how to get the balance into the spreadsheet without any luck, so your post saying that you will include this feature sometime soon is great news.

PG40, I've still got an old sheet somewhere with the formulas set up if you need one. Think it's for the old non-api version though. As soon as the balance is added it'd shouldn't be any hassle to amend it to back/lay 5% of the balance. You're welcome to a copy if you want one as it's usually easy to figure out the formulas with a working version and you can see what amendments you'd need to make like setting a btting range etc

Hello Captain Sensible ,, Sorry I think I should have left
you my email weespikey@yahoo.co.uk .

I was saying before about not being able to get my head around formulas, well
I came across a website last night that had lots of Excel video tutorials, after about
a hour I was able to type up a few formulas for some other sheets I have so it seems
abit more straight forward than I thought,,, Hopefully soon I'll be able to get this trigger
betting up & running soon.

Cheers

Thanks for the steer, Mitch. I've written a few sheets to keep track of results, strike rates, etc., so I hope to make good use of this facility. Amazing that Gary gives us this for nothing when the so-called 'big guns' charge so heavily.

Regards

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
