Hello Mark,
Thank you for answering Mark and I came to the same conclusions yesterday as you when you say
"My first thought is; was there a suspension of the market due to a goal etc which would cause the bet to be cancelled if it was unmatched at the time. Please check your "Lapsed bets" under Betting History on the Betfair website for the bets in question."
Until experimenting with football markets, I have only ever used the ticks offset on horse racing so it has been a surprise that the lay bet gets cancelled despite the back bet being placed - unless I am mistaken, I did not get the impression from reading the manual that there are circumstances in which the trigger will not work, but ultimately it is down to me not understanding Betfair football markets or why a bet I have chosen to be kept in play should be cancelled by Betfair because of a goal or a redcard etc.
I will explore further but it looks like my experimental way of betting on football is a failure.
Thanks Mark for taking the time to respond it is much appreciated.
