Identifying price changes

Postby Wyndon » Sun Feb 16, 2025 11:18 pm

I'd like to take a snapshot of prices, say 5 mins before start time, so that just before the off I can see which way prices have moved. The only way I've come up with is by placing bets and recording the prices they were matched at. I'd like to be able to do this without risking cash! Grateful for any advice/solutions.

I've created an Excel user defined function that will return the price from a specific number of seconds ago. See viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11553

Many thanks for your prompt and helpful reply. Wished I'd asked earlier!

Sorry, I'm getting a run-time error. The following line is highlighted in the debug sheet.

Set sheetHistory = CreateObject("System.Collections.Arraylist")

I'm afraid my VB skills are practically nil.

I've changed it to use native Collection instead. See viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11553&p=58079#p58079

Sorry to trouble you again. I’ve set up a trigger that depends upon current odds being less than historic odds. I set up markets to be open 4 mins prior to the scheduled off and the historic odds to relate to the previous 3mins. Obviously the earliest the trigger can kick in should be after 3mins. This does in fact happen after 3 mins; but I also get several triggered bets at the instant the market is loaded. This is when the historical odds are showing zero and so should not happen. I’m assuming that at the instant the market is loaded, historic odds from the previous race briefly remain. Assuming my explanation is correct, is it possible to ensure historic odds from the previous race are cleared immediately after the race? Hope this makes some sort of sense. Thanks.

I've updated it to check the market name in the recorded prices matches the current market to prevent this happening. See viewtopic.php?f=8&t=11553&p=58089#p58089

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
