New Alpha version

Postby GaryRussell » Fri Aug 17, 2007 10:21 am

I will be releasing an Alpha version later today hopefully. It will include a new auto betting feature. I would be grateful if you could try it out, but on the understanding that this version is experimental for trying out new features and I make no guarantees that it works as expected. I think this is the way forward, I will have a stable version, a Beta version for ironing out bugs and an Alpha version for trying out new features.

You can now download the Alpha version from http://www.gruss-software.co.uk/Betting ... /setup.zip

To use the new auto betting feature:
1. Select Auto Bets from the Auto betting menu.
2. Click on the event name and select the required event.
3. Choose your selection from the drop down list
4. Enter your stake and min and max odds that you will accept (the odds are initially populated +/- 30% best odds
5. Change the order start time to the time you want to start monitoring the market (default is 10 minutes before the event start)
6. Select the update period (default 1 second)
7. Choose Back/Lay from drop down
8. Enter criteria for placing bet
9. Click Activate button

Chase Odds: if you selected to bet at best back/lay price then on each refresh the bet will be updated to follow the odds (eg. if you selected 'best back price plus 5 ticks' and the odds were initially 3.4 your initial bet would be placed at 3.65, should the back odds drop to 3.35 then then your request will be updated to 3.60)

Replace bet in play: When the market goes in play and the bet has lapsed it will be placed again at the same odds.

Note: Below minimum stakes are not yet supported by this feature.
You can add as many auto bets as required using the 'Add auto bet' button.
Auto bets are independent of any markets you have displayed, in fact you don't need to have any markets displayed

Hi Gary, had a little play, looks like a useful edition but I'm I right in saying if I place a back bet before the event I would not be able to use this feature to green up "in-play" at the moment?

If the back bet is already matched when you set up the auto bet then you can green up by creating a lay auto bet with the required stake and odds range to green up.

You must include 'Market in play equal to true' in the conditions so the bet is only fired in play.

Hi Gary,

I know you have already stated that the alpha auto-bet feature doesnt support below minimum stakes and I was just wondering when you plan to implement this feature as for obvious reasons I dont want to risk bigger stakes until I'm happy I know what I'm doing with the the auto-bet features and also if any bugs are discovered well at least your bank only has limited exposure. I usually try various strategies until I find something that has proven to be profitable and being able to submit below minimum is an excellent feature of the main app. As has already been mentioned this feature has excellent potential. My trial period ends in 10 days and I must admit you have won over another customer after the trial period.

Keep up the excellent work and customer support Gary!! :D

New Features Alpha or Beta

Postby glider » Wed Oct 10, 2007 2:13 pm

Gary

You said in the first post in this thread ....." think this is the way forward, I will have a stable version, a Beta version for ironing out bugs and an Alpha version for trying out new features. "

However since then. all the new features, Com, first 3 in market etc have appeared only in the Beta. Is the Alpha now frozen and if so will Autobets be appearing in the Beta anywhen soon ?

Regards

I decided before I promote the Beta version to the official version I wanted to include the COM interface (a commercial decision, right or wrong), all the other features I added were small amendments that I thought should also be included and took no time at all to implement. I am working on the Alpha version at the moment and of course it will include these additions and a new bets manager. Autobets will not be added to the Beta version before it is promoted.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
