Programmer needed..

Postby crosby » Tue Oct 30, 2007 8:11 pm

Hi

I'm trying to get my head round VBA and writing some programs myself but it's taking longer than expected!

All I'm trying to do initially is put in a LAY bet when a certain criteria is met in running, any idea's roughly how much it would cost for someone to write this sort of program for me?

Any help very much appreciated.

Are you sure you need to use VBA ? What part cannot be achieved by using formulas ?

Thanks for the replies

Basically, what I want is a lay bet to be placed when the two first runners reach certain odds providing the third favourite in running (rather than third favourite pre race) is below set odds. Could this be done without VBA?

I'm sure this is pretty basic stuff but as I said I'm pretty new to this automated lark!

Thanks again, I'll have a good look through the forum that you posted.

When you say first two runners does that mean 1st and 2nd fav pre off or top two in the list or top two in running ? If it's the top two pre off you'll need vba to log them otherwise something as simple as an IF statement using RANK should be sufficient.

It would be for the top two in running, this is where I was coming unstuck.

I will have a play around with the IF statement using RANK though.

Thanks for the tip

crosby,
if you still cant get one to work let me know.

I am no excel guru but have created my own excel sheet, where it will look at the odds of the fav, I then tell it how far behind(in odds(I use at least 1.50 behind) I want the 3rd ranked horse (or any ranked for that matter) and the odds to be between certain amounts for the bet to be placed.

If you would like a copy just PM me.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
