Leveling Profit on Multiple Trades

Postby kiwi_kid » Thu Nov 01, 2007 5:09 am

Is there a way to level up all profits (and losses) in a race if I have traded on multilpe selections with varying results. For example, say I had closed trades on 3 selections and had p/l of varying amounts say for example horse 1, 1.50, horse 2 -0.50 and horse 3 -0.10. How would I place bets to show a level profit (or loss) against selections evenly?

I thought of this just yesterday when I dutched some horse races. I backed the three favorites with the dutching functionality, then in trading mode I often had two greens and one red or vice versa. Shortly, what would be comfortable is a 'reverse' dutching functionality that when the average result is green (or reaches a still acceptable red level) places counterbets to what we dutched before. I think this would be easy to program in Excel, but I personally am not able to do this. Perhaps anybody here as a worksheet that can help us?

I thought it would be easy too, but failed miserably, as each leveling profit trade affects the p/l of the other trades, and any formula I tried that included the other figures, resulted in the dreaded circular reference prompt. The solution is going to involve some maths that is above me.

Sports betting software from Gruss Software

The strength of Gruss Software is that it’s been designed by one of you, a frustrated sports punter, and then developed by listening to dozens of like-minded enthusiasts.

Gruss is owned and run by brothers Gary and Mark Russell. Gary discovered Betfair in 2004 and soon realised that using bespoke software to place bets was much more efficient than merely placing them through the website.

Gary built his own software and then enhanced its features after trialling it through other Betfair users and reacting to their improvement ideas, something that still happens today.

He started making a small monthly charge so he could work on it full-time and then recruited Mark to help develop the products and Gruss Software was born.

We think it’s the best of its kind and so do a lot of our customers. But you can never stand still in this game and we’ll continue to improve the software if any more great ideas emerge.
