Betting Favourites Explained

The Favourite (or the Sponk) is the betting selection in any event with the shortest price.

In certain events, there can be more than a single favourite. A Joint-favourite is when there are two selections sharing the shortest odds. To calculate your winnings off backing a joint-favourite, you must halve your stake to calculate the returns. The selections sharing the favourite spot cannot be split for favouritism.

In events where there are more than three favourites, the correct term is Co-favourite. When successfully backing a co-favourite you divide your stake by the total number of favourites to calculate your returns.
