Patent Bet
A patent bet is a bet which consists of 3 singles, 3 doubles and a treble from 3 selections.
This full cover bet is essentially a Trixie bet with 3 single bets added to each selection. The three choices appear in 1 single, 2 doubles and a treble bet, outlined in the example below:
Part | Selection | Number of bets |
Single | 1, 2, 3 | 3 |
Double | 12, 23, 13 | 3 |
Treble | 123 | 1 |
This results in 7 bets in total.
If a selection loses then it can adversely affect the bet, so it is wise to be careful when placing these types of bet, but any one winning choice from a patent bet can lead to a return, which is the main advantage of placing a Trixie bet.
